Underground gas storage is of key importance to gas supply under normal operational circumstances, and in case of a gas supply emergency. Ramboll Oil and Gas has done feasibility, conceptual and detailed design work on gas injection and withdrawal facilities. Securing a reliable gas supply is of prime concern to energy companies and consumers. Storage facilities – which for example could be placed underground in naturally occurring cavities such as salt caverns – play an important part in preventing both seasonal demand fluctuations in gas supply and unexpected supply disruptions.
