Improving the well-being of people
Apart from urban and rural land use patterns, we also take into account public participation levels, the technical infrastructure and environmental considerations. Spatial planning can help us improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged groups and strengthen their ability to participate in society. We also look for ways to balance and integrate the use of natural resources, technical innovation, economic investments, resource recycling and social conditions. To help map and analyse the spatial distribution of human activities, we use the geographic information system (GIS).
Urban and rural planning are closely interlinked in a complex system of supply and demand of services, including ecosystem services, social interaction, and resource exchanges. Ramboll has considerable experience working with spatial planning from various perspectives. We focus on improving the well-being of people by building their capacity, and developing their productive, social, and environmental assets.
